Handling Concepts' Light Crane Systems Materials Handling Equipment Solution

What Are Light Crane Systems?

Light crane systems are a series of modular overhead cranes that move extremely heavy loads using the overhead space in the workplace, instead of through aisles or on the floor. They offer many possibilities for handling loads quickly, safely, and efficiently and can lift up to 3,200kg.

The components of the modular system can be combined to create suspension monorails, single or double girder suspension cranes, extending cranes, and manipulator cranes. They are highly flexible and can be integrated easily into production infrastructure and changed when needed.

Handling Concepts works in partnership with German company Demag to offer KBK light crane systems. Our in-house engineers have perfected the design and manufacture of the support systems, allowing us to offer this material handling solution to customers across the United Kingdom.

Why Are Light Crane Systems Used?

Light crane systems are chosen based on the manual handling application. If the component is extremely large and bulky, an overhead crane can support heavier loads and utilise the overhead space.

They lift, lower, and move loads horizontally, allowing them to function in a production line. This improves worker safety and optimises productivity.

They are also exceptionally versatile and can be adapted to suit any application. As part of a full turnkey solution, light crane systems can be supplied with a hoist, lifting equipment such as grippers, or bespoke manipulator systems.

Light Crane Systems with Multiple Tracks

The Benefits Of Using Light Crane Systems

Light crane systems optimise production lines and reduce injuries in the workplace. They benefit both the worker and the business and can help in various ways by:

  • Lifting something too heavy for a person to handle manually.
  • Raising an item to a location that is not easily accessible for the person.
  • Reducing the risk of Musculoskeletal injuries and repetitive strain injury through incorrect manual handling.
  • Avoid employee fatigue.
  • Improving the efficiency of the production line.
  • Reducing the risk of workplace accidents and damage to products

This material handling equipment provides an alternative approach to manual handling and has become a valuable choice for construction and manufacturing industries.

Light Crane Systems with Hoist

Handling Concepts' Light Crane System Solution

This Light Crane System solution helps with the assembly of components on a full production line. It is over 40 metres in length and can safely lift loads of up to 250kg.

It helps with the fabrication of very long, narrow, and heavy construction components. A modular system provides an outcome which allows the load to be supported across the production line. Using the crane system means that the workplace utilises the overhead space, avoiding causing space restrictions at ground level.

The light crane system has 4 single girder bridge rails, all supplied with electric hoists that can operate independently or synchronised depending on the application.

This system also fits safely into an area with low head height. Workers can complete their tasks safely and efficiently, as it takes the weight of the load whilst providing a suitable working height.

The light crane system removes the need for workers to manually lift loads, reducing the risk of workplace injuries. It increases efficiency, as it operates smoothly along the production line.
