Look No Hands!
The elevator doors weigh up to 100kgs and must be moved from a welding table on to an assembly table (originally by hand) and once completed palletised (by hand).
Handling Concepts provided a solution using their Smigrip Vacuum Lifting System on an overhead electric hoist. The system grips the door assemblies allowing one operator to transfer safely between work stations. The Smigrip is supported on a monorail to allow ease of movement between three work stations. This has removed the manual handling problem and has incresed the speed of the operation whils also producing a better quality finished product.
Mr Brian Stockdale, Works Manager at Thyssen Krupp said "The Smigrip system has improved production efficiency and works well in our environment."
